The Challenges of a New EnvironmentEntering a university where the primary language of communication is English was initially daunting. Adjusting to a new lifestyle, culture, and academic system was challenging, but it was the language barrier that seemed the most daunting. I had to learn to understand lecturers who spoke quickly in English, a language that was not my first. It was difficult to keep up with the pace of the new environment, but I persevered.Struggles in the ClassroomClassrooms were a constant struggle. I often found myself lost in the midst of discussions, unable to contribute meaningfully. The language barrier was real, and it was preventing me from fully engaging with my peers and professors. However, I didn't let this discourage me. I persevered and searched for ways to improve.Finding My VoiceWith time, I started to understand more and contribute more in class. I found that the best way to improve my English was to speak it more often. So, I started participating in debates and discussions, even if it meant stumbling over my words or making mistakes. It was through this process that I found my voice.Making ConnectionsAs my confidence grew, I started making connections with other students. We supported one another in our struggles and celebrated our successes. The friendships that I have formed will be treasured forever. These experiences have taught me the importance of surrounding myself with people who believe in me and my abilities.Embracing DifferencesThe most significant lesson that I have learned during my time at university is to embrace differences. People come from all walks of life, with different perspectives and ways of thinking. It is only by understanding and appreciating these differences that we can grow as individuals. University life has been an eye-opening experience, and I am grateful for the opportunities it has presented me with.My Development as a PersonMy four years at university have been transformative. It hasn't just been about my academic development; it's been about my personal growth as well. I have learned to be more independent, resilient, and open-minded. I have discovered new interests and passions that guide my path forward.Preparing for the FutureAs I near graduation, I find myself reflecting on the past four years and how far I have come. I am confident that the skills and knowledge I have gained at university will enable me to make a positive impact in my chosen field. While there are still challenges ahead, I am ready to take them on and seize the opportunities that lie ahead.
