We've all made mistakes. We've all fallen short. And it is only by God's grace that we have been saved and delivered from ourselves.Now, Scripture tells us that we are beloved children of God, created in His image. And it also tells us that we are called to love one another as we love ourselves. This is a challenge that each of us faces every day. It's a challenge that brings out the best and worst in us. It's a challenge that tests our character and our faith.President Obama's SpeechNow, Scripture also tells us that we are called to be stewards of the world that God has given us. And this is a challenge that we must take seriously. We must be good stewards of the planet. We must be good stewards of our resources. We must be good stewards of our neighbors. And we must be good stewards of our country.Now, this is not always an easy task. There will be times when we fall short. There will be times when we make mistakes. But it is only through our love for God and our love for one another that we can truly be good stewards of the world that God has given us.The Meaning of PrayerNow, Scripture tells us that we are called to pray for our leaders and for our country. And this is a call that we must take seriously. Prayer is not a magic spell that will make everything work out okay. Prayer is not a substitute for action or responsibility. Prayer is an expression of our gratitude to God for the gifts that He has given us and our desire for His guidance in the decisions that we make.The Power of ForgivenessNow, Scripture also tells us that we are called to forgive those who have wronged us. And this is a call that we must take seriously. Forgiveness does not mean that we forget or minimize the harm that others have done to us. Forgiveness means that we release the anger and the bitterness that we feel towards others and give them the opportunity to repent and change their ways.The Importance of FamilyNow, Scripture tells us that family is the foundation of our lives. And this is a truth that we must never forget. Family is not just about blood relations or legal adoption. Family is about love and support and care and kindness and understanding. Family is about the people who are there for us when we need them the most.The Unity of HumanityNow, Scripture also tells us that we are called to love our neighbors as ourselves. And this is a call that we must take seriously. We must recognize that we are all part of the human family. We must recognize that we all share the same humanity, regardless of our color or creed or sexual orientation or political persuasion.
