Early YearsI was born and raised in a small town in the Pacific Northwest, USA. My earliest memories are of playing in my backyard, catching fireflies on summer nights, and building forts in the woods behind our house. I had a younger sister, who I adored, and we would spend hours playing together, making up adventures and imaginary worlds to explore.School DaysAs a child, I had a love for learning. I remember being fascinated by how things worked, whether it was a bicycle or a watch. I was always asking questions and trying to understand how things worked. In elementary school, I excelled in math and science, but also loved history and English. I remember being captivated by stories, both fact and fiction.In middle school, I started to discover my passions. I fell in love with music, playing the saxophone in the school band and writing my own songs. I also began to develop an interest in technology, specifically coding. I remember spending hours on the computer, teaching myself HTML and CSS and how to create websites.High school was an exciting time for me. I continued to explore my interests, taking classes in computer science, music theory, and history. I also started to discover my identity, participating in clubs and activities that reflected my values and interests.The Leap to CollegeHeading off to college was a big adjustment. I left my small town and moved to a large city where I was exposed to a whole new world of opportunities and challenges. For the first time, I was responsible for managing my own time, choosing my own classes, and navigating a new social landscape.College was also where I truly found my voice. I was exposed to new ideas and perspectives that challenged me, forcing me to think critically and form my own opinions. I joined clubs and organizations that aligned with my interests, such as the college radio station where I worked as a DJ and the computer science club where I met people who shared my passion for technology.Professional DevelopmentAfter college, I found myself facing another transition: entering the workforce. Again, it was a time of adjustment, learning new skills and responsibilities in my field of study. I started as an entry-level software engineer at a small startup company, working on web applications for the consumer market.Over the years, I have continued to grow and develop both personally and professionally. I've had the opportunity to work on various projects, some of which have been challenging but ultimately rewarding. I've learned new programming languages and skills that have allowed me to expand my horizons in the technology industry.Personal LifeGrowing up also means making connections and finding your place in the world. Along the way, I've made some amazing friends who have supported me through life's peaks and valleys. We've shared experiences, laughed together, cried together, and learned from each other.I've also had the opportunity to fall in love twice, both times with wonderful people who have brought so much joy and love into my life. Both relationships were unique and special in their own ways, but ultimately led to growth and understanding of myself.ReflectionsLooking back, my journey has been full of twists and turns, ups and downs, but ultimately has led me to where I am today. I've learned so much about myself along the way; what I'm capable of, what brings me joy and what challenges me.Growing up has taught me resilience; to be adaptable in different situations and environments. It has shown me that life is not always linear, but an adventure that takes you places you may never have expected. It has taught me the importance of self-care and self-love, of taking care of your mind, body, and spirit. And most importantly, it has taught me that there is still so much to learn and grow into, no matter how old you may be.
