He was a member of the Academic Divisions of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a fellow of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and a recipient of the Medal of Merit for the Development of China's Nuclear Weapons and Space Technology.Qian Xuesen studied at the Affiliated High School of Beijing Normal University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University in his early years. He graduated from the Mechanical Engineering Department of Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 1934 and went to the United States to study at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1935.Academic AchievementsWhile in the United States, Qian Xuesen studied and conducted rocket research at MIT and the California Institute of Technology.
