William Shakespeare (1564-1616) was a playwright and poet who worked during the Elizabethan era in England. He is considered by many to be the greatest writer in the English language, and one of the most influential writers of all time.LifeShakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon to John Shakespeare and Mary Arden. He had seven siblings, of whom he was the youngest.
